The goal of the workshop: To show the methods and techniques for identification of critical business processes and services that should be recovered by priority in case of a disaster, and the way of selecting the appropriate strategies of business continuity and recovery.
The various natural disasters, accidents caused by technology and the crisis caused by human activity have demonstrated that severe incidents can happen, impacting the public and private sectors alike. Organizations of all sizes and types should now engage in a comprehensive and systematic process of prevention, protection, mitigation and adequate response to crisis situations by ensuring business continuity and adequate recovery.
The ability of an organization to recover from a disaster is directly related to the degree of business continuity planning that has taken place before the disaster. Studies show that two out of five businesses that experience a disaster will go out of business within five years of the event. In order to ensure a systematic approach to managing business continuity, companies can use the International Standard ISO 22301.
During the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to conduct a business impact analysis (BIA) for their organizations and thus identify critical processes that support key products and services, and the necessary resources for the execution of the processes at the minimum acceptable level. Also, participants will make the risk assessment of the most important risks with the catastrophic consequences for the organization. Based on the defined requirements, obtained through the BIA and risk assessment, they will have the opportunity to choose the most appropriate strategy of the available strategies for business continuity and disaster recovery. In that way, through a workshop they will get all the necessary parameters to define business continuity plans. It will be presented all kinds of plans that need to be developed and regularly exercised and tested, to ensure a high level of the organization’s readiness to potential disaster.
