Panel discussion – Early warning systems

Duration: 10 -12 PM

Aim: Overview and analysis of current early warning systems in Croatia, determining challenges in their operation (normative, functional and technical) and suggesting improvements.

Active participants: Representatives of services and institutions in charge of climate risk management (civilian agencies and military services, meteorological services) and emergency and notification systems.

Other participants: Conference attendees, UASVG students and staff

Round table: Waste management risks – case study:”Drava International fire”

Duration: 10 -12 PM

Aim: Analysis of the extensive disaster in the Osijek-Baranja County caused by a fire at the Drava International company premises and suggesting improvements in prevention, preparedness and operation.

Active participants: representatives of participants and operational forces who were involved in mitigating the consequences of the fire, representatives of the interested scientific and professional public from the field of civil protection, firefighting, and the local community.

Workshop 1: Data Analysis and Unmanned Systems

Objective: Familiarization with planning complex terrain mapping operations using unmanned systems (example of the earthquake in Sisak-Moslavina County), processing and analysis of collected data (familiarization with applications used for this purpose), and distribution of information to decision-makers (preparation of reports and maps) and cooperation with the European Union’s Copernicus program.

Duration: 2 -5 PM

Participants: conference attendees, representatives of operational forces who use unmanned systems for terrain mapping in crisis situations in their work.

Workshop 2: Field Coordination in Crisis Situations

Objective: To get acquainted with the operation of equipment used at the location of an emergency event for the coordination and communication of operational forces and logistical self-sufficiency (command vehicle, communication systems, unmanned aerial vehicles, operations base, robotic systems, GIS applications).

Duration: 2 -5 PM (outside in front of the Congress Centre)

Workshop 3: Crisis Management Exercises

Objective: To become acquainted with the process of planning, implementing, and analysing exercises that must include all competent operational forces engaged in a specific crisis situation. Development of an exercise concept with clearly defined objectives, participants, scenario, and exercise locations for testing planning documents and mutual coordination and communication. Presentation of a case study of an international exercise held in the Republic of Croatia.
